All In for Reconciliation: RFDS launches its Stretch RAP

On 29 July 2026, Reconciliation Australia endorsed the Royal Flying Doctor Service's 2026–2029 Stretch Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), the organisation's fourth RAP and second at the Stretch level.

To mark the launch, RFDS has released "All In for Reconciliation," a video built around Reconciliation Australia's 2026 National Reconciliation Week theme and featuring RFDS people from across the organisation sharing what reconciliation means in their day-to-day work.

The Stretch RAP sets out RFDS's commitments for building respectful, trusted relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and embedding reconciliation into everyday practice across the organisation.

RFDS Chief Executive Emma Buchanan said the endorsement marked a milestone, not a finish line.

"What matters more is what follows: the conversations in our teams, the partnerships we build with First Nations communities and the everyday choices that turn commitment into practice," Ms Buchanan said.

Over the coming months, RFDS will continue to build on this commitment, including through the "Walking Together" partnership event in Canberra later this year, which will inaugurate the organisation's Indigenous Advisory Committee and celebrate its First Nations partnerships.

Because protocols for working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients, families and communities vary across the country, RFDS has developed Cultural Guidelines to support staff working respectfully wherever they're based. The approach starts with listening, learning, asking appropriately and working in partnership.
